A Second Child

I hear that having a second child can be hard on your firstborn. Not only do they get less attention, but they have to share their entire world with another little creature. That can lead to bad behavior, tantrums, or even lashing out at the baby.

So we bought this dog cage. If Max does any of that, we will just lock him in here.

I KID, I KID! We would never. But I think Max will do great. Caitlin has done everything she can to prep him, and he has such a sweet heart. I think Max is going to be an all star brother.

He may also be a doctor, Doogy Howser style!

Easter Dreams

Easter morning.

Max had a bounty of goodness this year. I think we feel like he is about to experience a rude awakening when baby #2 comes, so we are s,othering him with attention, love and gifts right now.

Dada got some coo shiz too...some shirts, Mountain Dew and M&Ms.

Mama hooked up with makeup, a new water bottle and some graham crackers and frosting for a pre-baby treat.

When we woke Max up (yeah, we have wake Max up on Sundays cause he usually sleeps til about 9:30), he was quick to lose the grogginess because the Easter bunny had come. At first he just wanted to see the bunny.

But then he realized there were presents to be had.

Hello playdoh, I will enjoy you.

Max gave mama new sunglasses to replace the ones that he took off her face and broke. I seriously asked him what he wanted to get her at the store and he said sunglasses. Done. Thanks Target dollar aisle.

Like many a child before him, his attention eventually turned to the fake grass and throwing it everywhere.

Later after church, Parker, Lincoln and Alpha came over for dinner and an Easter egg hunt and dinner. They were now all seasoned pros at egg hunting, having just done the church hunt the day before.

Parker, quickly grabbing the tougher eggs to find.

Max rocking it as well.

Even precious Lincoln making it happen.

Ah, the bounty was good. This time the eggs had gold fishes in them as a healthier snack. They had enough candy. Okay, some of them had jelly beans too.

Check out this egg...it has money in it! Okay, maybe we threw in some coins cause Max really loves money right now.

The crew. Adorable. Happy Easter everyone!

This Photo Slays Me

Even though Caitlin put this up on Facebook, I had to repost this here because this picture absolutely slays me. Every kid demonstrating his or her personality, cuteness at its absolute core (William, your hat could turn my worst day into a smile kid). I just love these kids.

In other Max news,he is finally getting over his semi-fear of dogs, as demonstrated by this attempt to give a dog a kiss. Pooch smooch.

Sometimes Max acts or looks like he is 5 instead of just 2. This is one of those pictures. Don't grow up any more Max! You are too amazing the way you are...

Easter Eve

Max is 2. And two is the year in which you really start to get it. Included in getting it is understanding the fun of holidays. While he doesn't quite get the atonement or resurrection, he does understand getting treats and looking for eggs. So we spent Saturday focusing on some of that.

It started with dying eggs! We quickly learned that I had to help keep Max's hands from touching and tipping over the dye.

He was pretty amped once he realized the eggs would turn colors.

Amazing!!!

Mom! Dad! This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my short two years of LIFE!!!

Mama, Max, Dads, and Sam eggs.

Look want I did! I love Easter!

Funny face! I am simply elated.

Later that afternoon we went to church for a big Easter egg hunt. Max made himself a baby chick craft.

He had brought his froggy Easter basket to collect as many eggs as possible. I had coached him to swing elbows as much as possible to get to more eggs than the other kids. "max, the other kids can't find eggs if their eye are filled with tears...". I'm a good dad.

Ready, set, FIND THOSE EGGS!

And the race was on. You can see how hardcore Max is about finding those eggs. I on the prize.

YES I GOT AN EGG!!!! (I love this picture)

More success.

Cruising as fast as he can to fill that basket. He didn't need much coaching once he got going.

The occasional lift to get the high eggs.

Precious Alpha, also present and searching.

No question, Max hooked up.

The booty.

The booty in his mouth.

Amazing friend William eyes Max's booty.

Thank you Easter for rocking our worlds! What an amazing day and it isn't even Easter yet!

Happy Easter everyone!

Mulcocks Multiplying like Gremlins

Meet Clark, my sister Beefsquee and husband Bodge's first precious baby boy. Just a year ago I would have thought my sister's tiny body would not be able to hold a baby in it, let alone squeeze one out. But, here he is In the freakin flesh. And what cute flesh it is.

Homeboy was born on March 23rd as part of a movie-like dash to the hospital, no drugs, and lots of screaming from Beefsquee. I really want to meet him, but will have to wait until we get to Idaho with our own newborn (when he makes an appearance).

This is the age of Mulcock expansion...beware.

Love For Da Kid Number 2

Well, we decided conference weekend would be the weekend we got serious about baby #2, and we lived up to our word. First, Caitlin had some friends throw her a dope shower on Friday night that went til midnight. Baby got some amazing gifts to give him a fighting chance at life...like cute clothes and blankets and such.

Then we spent the weekend taking all our baby stuff out of storage and sorting through the clothes, etc. it was that point that I kind of freaked out and decided I wasn't ready for round two...but there is no turning back.

On Saturday we also got a surprise package from Ashley and Leo, homies of the southwest.

Gorgeous. I couldn't wait to open.

Knife out. When Max sees a gift, he is on it. He came running over and wanted in on it big time.

Reaching in do discover the goodness contained within.

Precious MONKEY!!! Max respects a monkey, always.

A super cute one piece outfit!

A hat of adorableness! Sorry Max, doesn't fit your head. Thanks Ashley and Leo and Pensters for welcoming baby 2 into the world with fashion. There is hope for him yet. You guys rock!

Now if I can just emotionally prepare myself then all will be well. I am getting there.
