Halloween We Honor Thee!

I know, its ridiculous to post about Halloween this close to Thanksgiving - but I'm thankful for Halloween - so lay off on the judging and such.
Halloween night - such an amazing night to be alive. Jason and I spent the evening preparing the home for the Hallows Eve bash of the year!
This included classic goods like my internationally famous sugar cookies (with raisins and candy corns) and caramel popcorn.
One of the first guests to arrive was the Coles. They had appropriately dressed up as the Bobbitts (think back 15 years to non-stop news coverage). This included bloody crotch stain, censored bar and hatchet.
But most importantly, the costume included a severed member. Amazing. Bravo Coles. Subsequently, they would win best costume award for the night.
The Seevs came as a Foosball players - genius with the sticks guys. Genius.
Chunqing came as a severed head, which I loved. She sure had a hard time eating though.
The Romney's came as Sarah Palin and he as Mitt Romney. This was an appropriate costume because her name is Sarah and his is Romney.
Stick men. Classic idea! All you need is white clothing and some electrical tape. I love it.
Sushi family! The pillows on the back are rice, wasabi on the head and tuna bodies. I love the seaweed wrap around the body to hold it all together.
Baby sushi. Wow. So precious. Even babies should participate in Halloween.
Chunqing, Liz and Don dressed up as the Donner Party. Liz was the blistering winter snow, Don was death, and Chunqing was the meal of human flesh. Way to concept and bring it all together.
Patrick was a Roman emperor or god or Caesar. Either way, he commanded power and respect all night. Not pictured is Tracy (how did we miss getting a picture of Tracy as this party?) as a baseball player/fan and Ellie as a hipster from NY who is visiting the Mulcocks!
I was super impressed how many people dressed up this year, not all of whom are pictured. We watched some of my horror movies, with Til' Death getting a surprise standing ovation this year. People were really loving that one in '09. I swear they go in seasons.

The Suburbs Are Scary

Let me just start by asking - how sad are you all now that Halloween is over? I am pretty much as low as I can go in terms of depression (meaning I frowned for like 10 minutes about it). October is such an amazing month. While I didn't get as many horror movies in as I like to, I was able to enjoy some solid parties.

Of noteworthiness is Caitlin's bosses party. You may remember it from LAST YEAR? Well, this year was again without exception - awesome.
Can you guess are costume? Yep - Caitlin went as Octomom and I went as her sperm donor (a sexy mullet and a one piece outfit that says "Miss Behavin'" on the back). Isn't my donation awesome?
The dogs were dressed up as bees this year. It was pretty hard to get a picture of the three of them because they were running around trying to eat dropped foods.
Speaking of food, there were once again amazing treats to enjoy, including sweaty monster balls.
Caitlin's boss was quick to eat one of our delicious babies. Seriously, how great is a woman with this much love for Halloween? She is a great influence on Caitlin.
The party outside wasn't as raging this year as last because it was already crazy butt cold outside. At least the fire was hot and keepin' us warm.
The new addition to the decorations was the 250 or so mannequins that they had purchased. They were used to house many amazing masks and outfits. This is one of my favorite pictures I took - I'm not sure why it turned out so misty and awesome. But it did.
The guests, per usual, went all out with costumes. This family dressed up as a wedding party that all had been shot in the head. I hope my kids don't dress up as doggies and pumpkins and stuff. I hope the dress up as dead things, maniacs and psychos. I can't help them come up with costume ideas. Uncle Mike can do their hair and Uncle Stephen can help them with bloody make up.
We all lined up for the classic tractor ride through the haunted path.
More great uses of the mannequins.
Dead yard flamingos? I mean, that is taking it to a new level.
While on our tractor ride, this guy showed up and started scaring the crap out of the lady in the back. Seriously, those aren't laughs or fake screams. She was literally peeing her pants from fright as this guy slowly followed her and breathed on her.
It was an awesome party and of course I loved it. I wore my wig the entire way home with pride.

Make It Special

Everyone - tomorrow is Halloween. Make it amazing. It is too important of a holiday to waste. If you live in Illinois, come to our massive party. If you don't, go to a massive party. Or go to the cemetery and just stay there for like 5 hours and freak each other out. Or go to the parade in NYC. Or maybe see a messed up horror movie in theater or home. Or you could literally go and scare children...I am okay with all of this behavior. Just honor the day, okay?

The Great Pumpkin Of Stop Action

I'm sure many of you have already seen this, but I needed to post it because I think Collin has outdone himself this time. I am a lover of the stop motion, and Collin is a purveyor of the stop motion. His newest venture is in the world of Halloween, and I applaud the pumpkin work. I particularly enjoyed the baby pumpkin. Was he alluding to my baby? Maybe.

Check it out.

Para-awesome Activity

Last night I was able to con some people into going and seeing the film Paranormal Activity with me in downtown Chicago. Actually, I didn't have to do much conning - about 10 people were really excited to go.

You may have read my post where I praised the director of this film for being able to scare people without relying on traditional Hollywood scare tactics. Well, last night was my chance to validate that statement.

I am happy to announce that this film was ridiculously awesome. While it definitely makes the audience jump - the focus of the fear is on true anxiety and uneasiness. Similar to Blair Witch in both style and "mode of fear," the film effectively kept a packed audience on the edge of their seats for one hour straight. When I say this film had nearly no effects, I'm not kidding. They scare you with sound, lighting and subject matter. Its massively impressive of a feat and I strongly recommend this film.

Warning - At least 20 people were congregated outside the theater at any given time due to fear and four of them puked. If ghosts or "whats in the closet" scares you - then this film will seriously mess you up.

In terms of the marketing campaign, it is working. The film just opened up in a few more theaters here and they filled three huge theaters on a Thursday night at midnight. Someone is going to be very rich this year - unfortunately it is probably Paramount and not the filmmakers.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE for Halloween!

Its Time...

I'm freaking out. Its October 1st...which officially starts horror movie watching season. I honestly cannot believe it is finally here. I am fully determined to get some good horror movie watching in this year, even if it means I have to watch them alone. I have only seen two horror movies in 2009 so far (they were humdingers though - I highly recommend them both: The Strangers and Drag Me To Hell).

So I am going to correct this problem. I think I'll start tonight. Some movies I really want to see are The Descent, Scare Zone, some movie my friend Jason mentioned that sounds amazing. I also need to bring in some classics and maybe a solid foreign horror. I have one from China that is supposed to be super rad.

Heaven. Are they any good ones coming out? Has anyone seen any good ones?

For Fear I Might Attack You

You already know I like Halloween, and you already know that I like horror movies. These are all givens that do not merit repeating nor emphasis. But I must tell you that we did party on Halloween night. It seems as if the fame of my horror movies have spread across the country like wildfire. Upon our arrival to Evanston, there was a long list of people dying to see them. So we decided to throw a party at our house so people could screen a few.

But first, let's talk about me:Caitlin helped me look awesome for the party. Halloween for me is not really about dressing up...but I felt this skeleton face added to the evening of macabre. People had a tough time taking me seriously all night. I spent much of the night sneaking up behind people and scaring them...or just approaching them like a sick pervert. It was fun.
Some people did not dress up, but came with desire for fear in their hearts.Others came dressed up like soccer/rugby players. I'm noticing now that I didn't get very many pictures of actual people...so sorry about that. We had like 14 or so people there.
THE FOOD = DELISH.

Root beer cookies.Caitlin famous cocktail weenie bandaged fingers.Mulcock famous Halloween sugar cookies.Homemade cupcakes of succulancy.Cockroach infested pitas and hummus.Pumpkin bowl of chips for the 7 layer dip. Essential.Don designed this spider web laden white cake. Tasty. Not to mention candy and more candy. The table of goodness. The party was an overwhelming success. We showed Cyberpsycho, Loon, and Gone. This showing to virgin eyes only proved to me that each one of my horror movies is special for different reasons. There were people in the audience that liked different ones the best. A few were hardcore fans of the more realistic and bloody Cyberpsycho. Others like the campiness of Loon. While others appreciated the complexity and professionalism found in Gone. Either way, I got a chance to show off and walk around all night like a face painted goober. That's all I can really ask for on Halloween, now isn't it.

Halloween Treats and Sides

First of all - Happy Halloween to you all. I know you are all going to make the best of it, even if there is no MCack horror movie production this year. I really apologize for that, but you can understand the circumstances. Curse Northwestern if you need to - but homework forbids my making of horror. Sad.

But there is lots to celebrate. Caitlin and I partied it up with her boss who, as you know, LOVES HALLOWEEN. Her party was off the hook.

This is just one table of like 3 of amazing, catered treats. I took video of most of this, but she had deviled egg eyeballs, cocoa puff brains, peanut butter chocolate mice, guts....etc etc etc. All of it was delicious. You can see some of the goodness here. OH - she also had mummies in a blanket! COCKTAIL WEENIES! I love them. We brought DWo and LWo with us. As you can see, they dressed up like a shower and a woman getting ready to shower (as seen in the original Karate Kid).It was a great costume for being anti-social when you wanted to be. When you are ready to be social again, just open up. As a gag, many of us dressed up as Caitlin's boss, Shay. We were all different parts of her life. Above is "Work Shay."Caitlin was "Scary Halloween Shay," I was "Fitness Crazy Shay," and then there was also "Dog Rescue Shay" and "Pyro Shay." Shay is all of these things, and more.Carl, Shay's husband, was "Country Farmin' Shay." You can see Shay herself pictured here as the second person in from the right. Caitlin's costume involved awesome leggings with Halloween stickers on them.
Other people chose to not go the Shay route, as seen above. For example, these guys dressed up as a sting ray and The Crocodile Hunter. Classy! To add to the scariness of the night, we went around the "haunted forest path" that they had set up to scare kids at the party. Caitlin and I went out and scared people for a while. After about 5 hours of non-stop Halloween partying, we were ready to head back to Evanston. But not before the Wo's flashed one more camera-ready smile.

I hope everyone is doing something amazing for Halloween this year. High fives to all of you that have been to a corn maze, a haunted house, a horror movie (or 10?), a costume party, or an abandoned hospital. Beyond our partying, I also watched An American Werewolf In London, Friday the 13th Part 6, Mother of Tears, and Bram Stoker's Dracula. I hope to watch a few more, even though they will be out of season.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
