A Fat Birthday (also ph phat)

Saturday was my birthday. When we walked out the door I found the best present I could ever have asked for lying in the trash outside Stephen's apartment!

Who would ever through away this adorable baby?

Apparently he produces a lot of stinky diapers, but we'll keep him. For my birthday I wanted to go to the Manhattan temple together with Caitlin for the first time since Max was born, but who would watch him? Unky Feef was up to the challenge! This would actually be the longest Max had gone without mom...

As told by Stephen (we need to get Max's side of the story), Max was happy for about an hour and then got rather fussy. Steve learned all about how difficult it can be to get ready with an angry baby on your hands. Nothing he could do would calm max down. Finally they headed out onto the subway. Max persisted in anger until suddenly he got quiet, concentrated, and then smiled and reachedmfor stephens hand. Soon the car was filled with the sent of Max's fresh dump and it was soaking through his clothes.

When we found Steve outside the temple, max was stinky but smiling. Unky Feef was smiling too. I guess he just needed to take a dump. Steve refused to change him though....

So darn proud of what he had done. Caitlin and I had a magnificent session and were ready to carry on with our birthday festivities. Tracy joined us for the day.

Big Nicks...oh how we love thee! We got our beloved whole wheat pizza and talked to our buddy Mike who has been a waiter there ever since Caitlin started eating there in 2004. We learned that their milk shakes are also creamy and awesome.

After lunch we headed per to get the most luscious desert on earth - Lavain Bakery cookies. I obsess to my very core over their chocolate chocolate cookie.

Waiting in line, Max thought he'd catch up on some news.

My cookie.

Yes, it kind of looks like dog poo. That's because it is warm, crispy on the outside and doughy gooey on the inside with pounds of dark chocolate melting inside. This cookie weighs like two pounds.

Stephens sweet of choice was this sweetie pie.

How delicious is this kid? Careful though, he is not part of a balanced breakfast...too much sugar and calories.

After dessert and some additional site seeing, we got on the subway to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Unky Feef did the heavy lifting.

For the afternoon we just explored that neighborhood. Caitlin bought me some skinny wool pants from the Love Brigade and some pimp socks from Paul Smith. We got sodas. We chatted. We did all that is chill and enjoyable on a beautiful birthday afternoon.

We paused for a which to take some precious Williamsburg bridge photos like this one. The lighting was good, the bridge was majestic...it just made sense.

Some goofing around while I get the light and stuff where I want it.

Which one of these three people are teething? Hmmm, not Caitlin. Tracy seems fine. Oh yes, it's Max.

Stephen, also not teething...but looking good.

The fam. Doing pretty well at 32 years old. After that we headed up the street to our final destination for the night.

Met up with friends Pam and Beau.

More friends Brig, The Butler and Dave.

Trace Face.

There is only one friend with this type of energy!!!!!!

Mala Buns!

Let's not forget Emily and Feef.

It was a great time for chatting and catching up. It had been years since we all had sat down for a meal.

Great anidotes, hilarious jokes, tender felt memories. All these took place prior to our meal.

Max got passed around and loved by all.

Butwhere did we eat? At the very non-Caitli friendly Fatty 'Cue!

It is Asian BBQ cooked using American BBQ principles and is also family style. I took the liberty of ordering for everyone. Below are just a few examples of the food we ate that night. I believe I ordered like 27 items.

See that cup to the right. That is called "master fat". It is a collection of the fat and grease from all the meats they cook and then purified and served as butter juice for your toast. It was awesome.

Next to that toast is bacon. Have you ever seen bacon so thick?

Was it delectable? Look at my face. What does that tell you. Don't worry, there was some chicken and veggie dishes for Caitlin. Don't tell her that the veggies had bacon and beef fat in them....

I believe everyone found much of the food to their liking.

Even Max...well, mostly just the desserts. He's a sweets guy.

Thanks everyone for celebrating with me! It was great to see you all over fat and friends. Thanks Caitlin, Steve, Tracy and Max for a wonderful day as well. Thirty two hurts less in NYC it seems.
